Indonesia Issues 23,000 Visas for Regular Hajj Pilgrims

22 April 2024 12:32 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaDirector of Domestic Hajj Services at the Religious Affairs Ministry Saiful Mujab has confirmed that the government is in the process of preparing documents and processing visas for the Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.

As soon as the payment of the pilgrimage costs is complete, the next stage is preparing the documents and the visas. Until now, around 23,000 pilgrims have received their visas.

“We are currently processing visas and other documents such as passports, bio visas, and others. This process will continue until all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims' visas are issued,” Saiful said in an official release from the Religious Affairs Ministry on Monday, April 22.

Simultaneously with the visa process, Saiful said, the ministry was also gearing up to prepare groups for the hajj pilgrimage. The flight schedule has already been finalized for those departing with Saudia Airlines or Garuda Indonesia.

“We are also making final preparations for the Hajj dormitory, both for embarkation and transit, to receive and accommodate pilgrims,” he added.

The first batch of Hajj pilgrims is expected to arrive at the dormitory on May 11, 2024, and depart to Amir Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Airport (AMAA) Madinah on the following day. The pilgrimage will take place from May 12 to May 23, 2024.

Meanwhile, the second batch of Hajj pilgrims will visit the Hajj dormitory on May 23  and depart for King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on May 24. The pilgrimage is slated to last from May 24 to June 10, 2024.
