TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Setya Novanto has been placed in solitary confinement at Gunung Sindur Prison in Bogor. The convicted corruptor of the e-KTP bribery case is being punished for walking around freely after getting a treatment at a hospital in Bandung.

"He is temporarily in isolation and is forbidden to communicate with the outside world. According to the district office, he is not allowed to receive visits for a month," the Director General of Corrections, Ade Kusmanto, said in Jakarta, Monday, June 17.

Ade said Setya violated rules by abusing his medical treatment permission. "It's a heavy violation," he said.

Not only isolation, Ade said that a prisoner who violates prison rules is also threatened by other sanctions, one of which is the revocation of inmate rights such as the rights to a remission or a parole.

Setya is also threatened to temporarily lose visitation rights by family members and lawyers.

Before he was taken to Gunung Sindur Prison, Setya Novanto was an inmate at Sukamiskin Penitentiary in Bandung. He was transferred following an incident on Friday, last week.

The former Golkar Party chairman was photographed hanging out at a shop—and that photo soon went viral on social media.

At the time, Setya was supposedly undergoing treatment at Bandung's Sentosa Hospital. But he disappeared after saying he had some hospital administration to take care of. He returned to the hospital later in the afternoon, but the fact that he left is a violation against several regulations.
