TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A spokesman for presidential ticket Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno’s campaign team (BPN), Lieus Sungkharisma, was arrested by the Jakarta Police's special criminal investigation directorate over alleged hoax spread and attempted treason.

Lieus was arrested at his house earlier this morning in West Jakarta and arrived at the Jakarta Police headquarters at 10:13 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).

The former chairman of the Chinese Indonesian Reform Party asserted his arrest was unjust. “This is surely unfair,” said Lieu at Jakarta Police headquarters.

Based on Tempo's observation, Lieus was hancuffed when exited a police vehicle while carrying a bottle of mineral water. He openly stated that he did not dare consume beverages or foods other than the ones from his family.

“I openly admit that I do not dare drink beverages outside of the ones given by my family. I also refuse to eat any food other than those provided by my family. I forbid the police from providing me with anything, it’s kind of them, but I’m afraid of dying,” said Lieus.

Lieus was reported to the police after Eman Soleman filed a police report on suspected hoax spread and attempted treason on May 7, 2019. The report has been handed to the Jakarta Police. Lieus was initially summoned for police questioning as a witness but failed to appear, saying that he did not have a lawyer to accompany him.
