TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will question Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan in the alleged corruption that took place during the Riau-1 PLTU project. The questioning will take place today, May 20.

"The person concerned will be questioned as a witness for suspect Sofyan Basir," KPK spokeswoman Febri Diansyah said through a written statement, Monday.

In addition to Minister Jonan, the KPK will also inquire PLN's Director of Strategic Procurement 2, Supangkat Iwan Santoso, and PLN General Manager for Riau and Riau Islands branch, Doddy B. Pangaribuan. They will both answer to questions about Sofyan Basir's alleged involvementin the bribery case.

Sofyan, now an inactive president director of PLN, was named a suspect by the KPK on April 23, 2019.

The KPK suspects Sofyan of saying yes to a bribery promise, from the shareholder of Blackgold Natural Resources Ltd, Johannes Budisutrisno Kotjo, just like Golkar Party politician Eni Maulani Saragih, who at the time served as Deputy of Energy Commission.

Febri said that the Energy Ministry was involved in in the preparation of the coal-fired power plant project, which is the basis of KPK`s decision to question Jonan.
