TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The advisory board member of the Prabowo - Sandiaga campaign team, Amien Rais, called for justice in the hoax case implicating Ratna Sarumpaet.

According to him, the hoax made by Ratna Sarumpaet was not equal to that of made by the country’s elites.

"I demand justice. Even if all hoaxes spread by this country's leaders are collected, I think that's 100-fold worse than Ratna Sarumpaet’s hoax," said Amien Rais after attending a hearing at the Ratna's hoax trial in South Jakarta District Court, on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

The founder of the National Mandate Party (PAN) said that Ratna Sarumpaet must visit trials to undergo legal proceedings in her old age. "So please be fair, don't repress small people," Amien underlined.

Amien also recalled Ratna's past as a social activist who was actively fighting for the rights of small people. According to him, a human can make a mistake in life, yet not all people have the courage to admit it.

"Everyone falls, and a champion is those willing to admit his mistake," Amien Rais remarked, admitting that he was disappointed for believing Ratna Sarumpaet over her claims of an attack. During the trial, Ratna Sarumpaet expressed her apology to Amien Rais.
