TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has given the green light for Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to investigate Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin in relation to an alleged graft case incriminating PPP Chairman Romahurmuziy.

“We grant KPK complete authority to investigate the case,” said the president at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta on Tuesday.

KPK had previously confiscated Rp180 million and USD30,000 in cash from Minister Lukman Hakim’s office in the religious affairs ministry HQ.

However, asked to comment on the case and alleged involvement of Minister Lukman in the scandal, Jokowi opted to provide no comments and let the ongoing investigation reveal the truth.

“It’s still an ongoing investigation, so I refuse to comment on the matter,” said President Jokowi.

Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin`s alleged involvement was initially sparked by Romahurmuziy’s arrest on Friday, March 15, in Surabaya. At the time, KPK nabbed Romahurmuziy in a sting operation (OTT) for allegedly accepting bribe from two men to smoothen their candidacy within the Ministry’s job positioning.
