TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - No comments were provided by the Religious Affairs Ministry following the cash discovered at Minister Lukman Hakim Saifudin’s office by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators on Monday.
In KPK’s search at the ministry’s headquarters yesterday, a handful of cash in the form of hundreds of millions of Rupiah and US Dollars were confiscated.
“That is in the realm of KPK,” said the religious affairs ministry’s secretary general M. Nur Kholis Setiawan at the Ministry’s HQ. He maintained that he is only tasked to accompany KPK investigators during their search for documents.
The KPK search was conducted in the presence of religious affairs ministry employees.
At the same day, KPK continued its search at the United Development Party (PPP) executive board (DPP) headquarters to collect pieces of evidence from the office of party chairman Romahurmuziy or Romy.
Romy was freshly arrested by KPK as a suspect of graft together with two other individuals for allegedly selling positions in the religious affairs ministry.
