TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police have arrested two members of the Gabores bikers' gang who had been named as fugitives two weeks ago. One of them was killed after being shot by the police.

"The two bikers we arrested are Ai a.k.a. Kl (20). And Mm a.k.a Tompel (27)," West Jakarta Resort Police Chief Comr. Hengki Haryadi said in a written statement Monday, March 18.

The bikers' gang members were hunted down by the police under suspicion of murdering an innocent pedestrian. On March 4, Ivan Surya Saputra died after being attacked by a group of teenagers on Daan Mogot Road, West Jakarta.

Hengki said that Tompel resisted arrest and fought police officers with a sickle, forcing the officers to fire shots. "He died on the way to the hospital," Hengki said.

According to the precinct's Criminal Investigation Unit chief, Adj. Sr. Comr. Edy Suranta Sitepu said, Ai and Tompel were top ranking members of the Gabores gang. The police had previously arrested three members of the same gang; DO (17), AD (16), and RO (17).

"Tompel was the brain behind Ivan's murder," he said.
