Malaysian Police Investigating Murder of Indonesian Woman in Petaling Jaya

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Malaysian Police are investigating the suspected murder of a woman believed to be an Indonesian citizen in Mentari Village, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The police have not released the woman's identity.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Mohd Fakrudin Abd Hamid said the police received a report regarding the incident at 06:30 today, after a local man found an unconscious woman at the lift staircase of Block 5 in Mentari Village apartment complex in Sungai Way.
Fakrudin said that the Selangor Police's Forensic Division, a medical team from Hospital Sungai Bulohm and the pathology team from the University Malaya Medical Center had been assigned to the scene.
From the examination of the body of the female victim, about 19 years old, according to him, there were wounds on the neck, chest, and hands.
Fakrudin said the case was classified as murder and was being investigated under Article 302 of the Criminal Code.
A number of local media reported the discovery of the body of a woman suspected to have been murdered believed to be an Indonesian citizen.
Media reports said that the Malaysian Police are still waiting for the results of the forensic team to determine the level of injuries suffered by the victim for further investigation. The police will also check the security cameras near the crime scene.
The police are still collecting evidence and are asking potential witnesses for information related to the case to assist the investigation process.
The K9 Tracking Dog Unit team was also dispatched to look for evidence, including weapons that the perpetrators might have used.
