TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial government has urged online motorcycle taxi or online ojek operators, Go-Jek and Grab, to provide shelters several meters away from the train station gate.

The shelter provision was one of the solutions to curb congestion caused by drivers who loitered near train station gates.

“We hope online ojek operators, both Grab and Go-Jek, will provide shelters. Jakarta Transportation Agency will help to facilitate them,” said Jakarta Transportation Agency's operational control head Maruli Sijabat in a phone call with Tempo in Jakarta, Monday.

The shelters would be a place for drivers and pick-up locations for passengers. Maruli demanded Go-Jek and Grab coordinate with parking providers in light of the shelter provision and limit the pick-up locations area through their platform system.

Since November 2018, the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) head Bambang Prihartono said that Jabodetabek Commuter Line's entrance and exit have become messy because online motorcycle taxis are parked in clusters. He had asked ride-hailing operators to coordinate with PT KAI to overcome the issue.
