TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bantul Regency Tourism Office in the Special Region of Yogyakarta wants to get more tourists to visit its beach areas. At the start of 2019, the Office will revamp the south beach tourist area.
"We will carry out evaluations related to the tourism sector. Yesterday, we had a cross-sector coordination regarding a plan to revamp the south coast," Bantul Tourism Office head Kwintarto Heru Prabowo said in Bantul on Sunday, January 6.
Heru said that in the southern coast region—especially the Parangtritis Beach area—there are still many merchants and tour providers who are not following orders. For example, many are still opening stalls in area prohibited for trading.
Therefore, he said, arrangements would be made—including organizing parking spaces and trash management. The Tourism Office will collaborate with relevant agencies, ensuring that the restructuring process does not disturb or reduce the comfort of tourists.
Traders operating at the south block of Parangtritis Beach block will be relocated to an area designated for shopping. The road will also be closed for parking.
