TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) began to handcuff the graft case prisoners, the implementation started today, January 2.

One of the prisoners who was wearing handcuff was Tubagus Cepy Sethiady, the brother-in-law of the inactive Cianjur Regent, Irvan Rivano Muchtar.

Tubagus Cepy is a suspect in a bribery graft case related to the Cianjur Regency Special Education Allocation Fund in 2018.

When Tubagus Cepy got out of the prisoner’s car, he was already wearing a handcuff as well as KPK’s orange vest. The KPK probed Tubagus Cepy as a witness for the suspect of the inactive Cianjur Regent Irvan Rivano Muchtar today.

Regarding the handcuff, KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said that this was part of the safeguards to the KPK prisoners.

“For the prosecution, as decided by the leadership, the KPK has increased the implementation of safeguards to KPK prisoners. The rules regarding handcuff the prisoners coming out of the detention center began to be implemented,” Febri said in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 2.

From the information by the prisoner's guard, Febri continued, the implementation of the handcuffs began in Bandung and Jakarta today.

“It is good for prisoners to prepare for the trial and from the detention center to the KPK building for the probe,” he said.

On Wednesday, the Corruption Court in Bandung scheduled a hearing for the defendants, including Billy Sindoro, Henry Jasmen P Sitohang, Taryudi, Hendry Saputra, Wahid Husen, Andri Rahmat, and Fahmi Darmawansyah.
