TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Democrat Party's honorary board deputy chair Agus Hermanto said his party deemed March 2019 was the right time for the party’s chairman, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, or SBY, to campaign for Gerindra chief patron Prabowo Subianto. The party must muster its strength before engaging in the presidential election's campaign, Agus said.
"Pak SBY decides to support the Prabowo-Sandiaga pair, so it [the campaign] is planned to commence at the right time, in March," said Agus Monday, November 19, at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta.
Agus claimed his party had a special strategy to vie in the 2019 General Election so it could prevail in the legislative election as well as the presidential race.

Agus stopped short when asked whether the campaign period, which was commenced one month before the election, was in accordance with the initial agreement between the Democrat and Gerindra.
According to him, all political parties are now focusing on the legislative race, considering strong party cadres in the parliament would be useful in supporting their presidential pairs.
"The Democrat strives to win in the legislative election and must succeed in the presidential election, so we have to make sure that we take on them at the right time and in the right place to achieve both," said the House of Representatives deputy speaker.
Earlier, the Democrat Party deputy secretary-general Rachland Nashidik said SBY would kick off his campaign for Prabowo Subianto in March 2019. SBY, Rachland underlined, still kept his word to throw his weight behind the Prabowo-Sandiaga pair.
