Lombok Quake; International Red Cross Ready to Help PMI

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The International Red Cross praised the performance of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in dealing with the earthquake in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). They said they were ready to help.
Alexandre Faite, head of the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC) Delegation for Indonesia and East Timor, visited the Vice President's Office in Jakarta, Monday, September 10. There, he ensured that PMI will receive much support to carry out their work in Lombok.
He said that the international federation of the Red Cross and the international community of the Red Cross are ready to lend their support.
"We support the enormous work by PMI, including in Lombok. Now, this is quite an extraordinary activity," he said.
When meeting Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Mr. Faite congratulated Indonesia for being elected as a member of the UN Security Council for the 2019-2020 term.
"2019 is a very important year for Indonesia because it will enter the UN Security Council. We see that there are potentials for common interests to be supported at the international level," he said.
