TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Bandung Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Tony Agus Wijaya said that West Java`s dry season has effective arrived since May and will last to October.
“The peak dry season will happen in August, that is when the rain intensity is at its minimum all year long,” said Tony today on July 18.
This year’s dry season in West Java will basically run as usual as the past 30 years dictated. What constitutes as a normal dry season is when the rain intensity gradually drops and peaks in August and will increase again up to October where the season changes to the rainy season.
However, during night time, the temperature of the air will be notably colder while the days will generally feel hotter than usual. Based on the agency’s observation, West Java’s lack of rain up to July 10 can be categorized into an intermediate one which means that there are 11 out of 20 days will pass without any rain.
The longest rain streak of 31-60 days in a row is taking place in south Majalengka such as in regions of Banjaran, Rawa-Cingambul, Talaga, Cikijing, and Majalengka.
Regarding West Java`s minimum or cold temperatures in August, Tony explained that it will be similar to July’s minimum temperature since the weather will generally be clear.
