Jokowi and Mahathir were set to participate in the arrival event for state-guest at the Bogor Presidential Palace before the Friday prayers. Both country leaders were scheduled to take pictures together, plant trees, conduct a veranda talk, and issue a statement with members of the press.
Previously, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi stated that Mahathir’s visit was essentially an introduction visit. “[Mahathir's visit] as the new prime minister and Indonesia as the first ASEAN country he visited,” said Retno Marsudi in Bogor on Thursday, June 28.
During today’s meeting, said Retno, Jokowi and Mahathir were set to talk about strengthening the ties between both nations, either economically or socio-culturally.
“We conduct many trades with Malaysia, quite frequent, including socially and culturally. Including the issue of millions of Indonesians that are in Malaysia,” said Minister Retno.
