TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A 4.8 Richter scale earthquake hits Sumenep, East Java on Wednesday evening, June 13, 2018. The earthquake, which epicenter was located 6 kilometers Northeast of Sumenep with a depth of 12 kilometers, destroyed dozens of houses in three sub-districts.
"The damages occurred in Manding, Dasuk, and Batu Putih sub-districts," said Chief of Data, Information, and Public Relations of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
Sutopo said that at least 26 houses and a mosque were destroyed or damaged in Batu Putih sub-district. Meanwhile, in Dasuk sub-district five houses were reported damaged.
"We are still waiting for more damage reports," said Sutopo.
Sutopo explained that losses are predicted to be around IDR 400 million, and three people were reported injured. "They were injured by the collapsing building. No casualty has been reported so far," Sutopo said.
