TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The chairman of Progres 98, Faizal Assegaf, brought some evidence to the Jakarta Metro Police on Monday, May 21. The evidence was revealed to support his charges against a number of cadres Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), whom he believes to be advocating terrorism.

Faizal showed a stack of documents with screen-captures of PKS politicians` social media posts as well as reports about himself.

On Monday, Faizal filed charges against PKS politicians including its president Sohibul Iman, DPR deputy speaker Fahri Hamzah, Anis Matta, Mardani Ali Sera, and others.

"At first, I made a post requesting the government and the police to tightly monitor PKS' offices in East Java," he said, adding that his request was based on suspicions that some PKS cadres posted inappropriate posts about terrorism that allowed radicalism to prosper.

Faizal said that Anis Matta in had praised Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, and posted two poems titled "Letter to Osama" and "Osama's Answer" in 2001.

Following the string of terror attacks in Mako Brimob and Surabaya, Faizal tweeted about Anis Matta's posts in his Twitter account. This prompted PKS East Java Office to report Faizal to the Police under slander charges.

"I also reported Fahri Hamzah for defamation, and he attacked me by saying that there is a strong man behind me and that I am affiliated with international intelligence. He has to be accountable for that in court," Faizal said.

Faizal also reported Mardani Ali Sera for lying to the public, as he made a statement on social media that PKS does not support terrorism and radicalism. "I have strong pieces of evidence that PKS does. This is public deception," he said.
