TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) discussed the possibility of Gerindra Party to pair Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan with Prabowo Subianto as candidates in the upcoming 2019 presidential election. However, PKS Central Executive Board chairman Mardani Ali Sera said that his party still hopes that internal party cadres can join the candidacy.
“If Gerindra submits Anies, we will discuss it at the party’s conference, just like any other candidates, though we hope that several names from our party cadres are in the list of the presidential and vice presidency,” said Mardani today, March 27.

Prabowo Subianto, who is the Chairman of Gerindra Party, is predicted to be endorsed as a presidential candidate in the general election. The official declaration is said to be done in the national coordination meeting held in April.
PKS is the only political party in the country that has officially declared a coalition with Gerindra Party.
According to Mardani, PKS has a close relationship with Anies Baswedan and believes that whoever PKS submits as a candidate to accompany Prabowo would eventually lift Prabowo’s electability.
Gerindra is reported to be considering to have Anies Baswedan enlisted in the 15 names that later on would be paired as Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate.
