TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Budget carrier Scoot on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, launched a new flight route connecting Singapore and Palembang. The Singapore Airlines’ subsidiary company chose Palembang as one of five destinations of its flight.
Scoot president director Lie Lik Hsin announced that the new routes marked the financial success of the company’s merger with another Singapore Airlines’ subsidiary Tigerair.

The other four destinations are Kuching and Kuantan in Malaysia, Harbin in China, and Honolulu in the United States.
By opening five new routes, Scoot will reach 60 destinations in 17 countries, according to Lie Lik Hsin.

Lie did not elaborate the decision in choosing Palembang as their new destination. Lie only said that Palembang will not be the only destination to be served by Scoot.
Lie added that his company is seeking to expand its business in Indonesia, as currently the airlines only serve flights to major cities in the country.
