Cikampek-Jakarta Toll Road Inundated

TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - Heavy rain in Bekasi, West Java, have inundated a number of areas along Jakarta–Cikampek toll road on Sunday (14/2).

One of the areas badly hit by the inundation is located on Kilometer 34 on Cibatu, Bekasi Regency.

As a result, there was a build up of traffic for 2 kilometers to the Jakarta direction.

Spokesperson of state-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga of Jakarta-Cikampek branch Iwan Abrianto said that the area was inundated with up to 30 meter of floodwater and many vehicles tried to avoid the deluge by passing by on the fast lane.

Iwan added that the floods happened because water from the drainage around the area overflew.
