TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Bandung City administration plans to provide free rides of the Bandung Tour on Bus (Bandros) for tourists planning to travel around the city. "It is still being discussed. The Bandung city administration wants [Bandros] to be free," said Herlan Joerliawan Sumardi, Head of Cultural and Tourism Agency of Bandung City on Monday, January 11, 2016.
Currently, Bandros is only available for tourist group. Tourists will have to pay a fare of Rp 700,000 to Rp 800,000 for one round-trip on the Bandros.
In order to provide free Bandros services, Bandung City administration plans to add more buses by gathering companies interested to pay for Bandros operational costs through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.
"Hopefully [Bandros] operational and management aspects will also be handled thorugh CSR," said Herlan.
In addition, the Agency also plans to cooperate with several hotels in the city. Later in the future, tourists staying in certain hotels can enjoy Bandros tour bus free of charge.
Currently, there are eight Bandros tour buses managed by a private company. However, due to licensing issue and the buses' specifications, seven of the eight buses have not been operated.
