TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police Head of Indonesian Republic (Kapolri) General Pol Badrodin Haiti said there were two foreign companies named as suspects in the case of forest fire.
In press conference on Monday, October 12, he said “These two companies are from Malaysia and China.”
To get to know more about the motives regarding the forest fire, the police would do more intensive investigation towards the foreign corporate.
In regards to the concerned of the foreign companies, Badrodin said that the police have yet to coordinate with the related authority of the countries of the companies.
“We will not involve foreign police at the moment,” he said.
Badrodin added until October 12, there were 12 companies suspected for the forest fire in Sumatra and Kalimantan.
The suspects had break Article 108 Law Number 32 in 2009 with punishment minimum of three years and maximum of 10 years in jail; also pay a fine minimum of three billion and maximum of 10 billion.
