President Installs Agus Supriatna as Air Force Chief of Staff

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo has installed the Armed Forces general chief of staff, Air Vice Marshal Agus Supriatna, as the new Air Force chief of staff, replacing Air Marshal Ida Bagus Putu Dunia. Agus was promoted twice in three days.
“According to the Presidential Decree No. 1 Year 2015 on the Termination and Promotion of the Air Force chief of staff, Air Vice Marshal Agus Supriatna, with NRP (main registration number) 505477 as the Air Force chief of staff,” announced the president’s military assistant at the State Palace on Friday, January 2, 2015.
Prior to his promotion, Agus was a two-star marshal and served as the Armed Forces deputy inspector general. Agus was later promoted to Air Vice Marshal on December 31 as the Armed Forces general chief of staff—a prerequisite to be promoted to the Air Force’s top seat.
As the Armed Forces chief of staff, Agus replaced Admiral Ade Supandi, who was installed earlier as the Navy chief of staff. The inauguration of Agus and Ade could not be held simultaneously as Ade was still a two-star marshal until the end of December 2014.
The inauguration was attended by high-ranking state officials, including Armed Forces commander Gen. Moeldoko and National Police chief Gen. Sutarman.
