TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto said two projects of Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) will be launched this coming November. The two segments are Palembang-Indralaya and Medan-Binjai. "Its launch will be at the same time with the groundbreaking (ceremony) for the Medan-Kualanamu-Tebingtinggi toll road project," he said at the public works ministry's office yesterday.

According to Djoko, although the land for the two segments has not been cleared, they will continue to launch the projects since majority of the land belongs to state enterprises, and it is expected to be completed soon.

Djoko said the PT Hutama Karya (HK) would construct the segments. The company has been assigned since no company was interested [in the projects] at an auction that was previously held by the government. "It has been assigned to Hutama Karya," he said.

The decision, Djoko said, was taken after the JTTS was discussed by President Susilo Bambang Yodhoyono at a limited cabinet meeting, Thursday.
