TEMPO.CO, Bogota - Jose Pekerman has signed a new four-year deal as the Coach of Colombia, the South American country's football federation announced yesterday.
"We've been saying it since the start, for several months, that Pekerman was our plan A, B and C," said the Federation President Luis Bedoya told local radio.
Pekerman's first contract expired July 31, where the 64-year-old Argentine took over Colombia in January 2012.
Under his guidance, Colombia did not only qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time in 16 years, but also recorded four victories and reach the quarter-finals where they were knocked out by Brazil’s host, the AFP reported.
