TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Manchester United first team coach Rene Meulensteen claimed that they need at least to add four "strong" players to help boost their performance. Meulensteen urged Man United to bolster the squad, particularly in the midfield and back area.
Meulensteen said that the current squad will not provide much help to Van Gaal in his attempt to return United’s glory. In recent updates, United, despite having impressed their fans with pre-season winning streak, began their Premier League campaign with a defeat against Swansea City.
Van Gaal, once deemed to be able to save United from the abyss, now has a mountain to climb. Not only that Van Gaal has to re-discover United’s top-notch performance, he is expected to be able to return the top-four status of the club.
With two weeks left on summer transfer window, Meulensteen said that Van Gaal needs to optimize the remaining time. Moreover, he added, United do not seem to have significant problem with financial ability.
