TEMPO.CO, Shanghai - A Chinese tourism group, Chongqing Wulong Karst, has filed a case against the producers of the Hollywood box-office 'Transformers : Age of Extinction' for not displaying the company’s logo on the film.
The company is seeking 20.8 million Yuan ($3.36 million) from the lawsuit against Paramount and 1905 Internet Technology that they have lodged to a court in Chongqing city.
The tourism group manages Wulong Scenic Area in southwestern China that was used as the shooting location for Transformers.
"We had already communicated with the other parties but they couldn't fulfil our requests. It wasn't possible to speak further so we could only sue and if they're not able to remedy the situation we may just have to go to court," a spokesman for the company told Reuters yesterday.
Paramount’s spokesperson, a unit from Viacom, had no comment on this matter.
According to Xinhua, the tourism firm wanted Paramount to show the logo "China Wulong" in all DVDs, TV and digital platforms on which the movie was shown, and had asked producers to return 4.8 million Yuan in contract payments.
It had also asked producers to bear losses of four million Yuan, which it suffered when the scenic spot was shut for several days for the filming, and to compensate it for expected profit losses of 12 million Yuan.
