Investment Realization Grows Beyond Expectation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mahendra Siregar, head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), said that the investment realization value in the first semester of 2014 had exceeded the initial target. Total investment value in the frst semester of 2014 was increased by 15.6 percent compared the same period last year.
"The investment realization so far is recorded at Rp 222.8 trillion [US$18.6 billion]. In the first semester of last year, the realization was Rp 192.8 trillion [US$16.1 billion]," Mahendra said at his office on Thursday, July 24, 2014.
Mahendra said that domestic investment has reached Rp 72.8 trillion (US$6.1 billion) or 32.7 percent of the total investment value, while foreign investment accounted for 67.3 percent, or Rp 150 trillion (US$12.5 billion), of the total value.
According to Mahendra, the total investment realization for 2014 has reached 48.8 percent. He is optimistic that the target to realize Rp 456.6 trillion (US$30 billion) would be achieved this year.
"There is no reason to be pessimistic. Based on the trend, there will be solid growth ahead," he said.
