TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Andreas Rompis, Samsung Electronics Indonesia’s vice president for IM Business, said the potential of Indonesia’s premium tablet market remained high. He added this was evident in Samsung’s significant market share in the Indonesian tablet market.
“Samsung’s market share in the Indonesian tablet market is at the tune of 50 percent,” he said during the launch event of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.
Andreas said this achievement was despite the fact that most of the South Korean electronics giant’s products were classified as high-end ones.
Andreas said tablets’ becoming Indonesia’s most favorite gadgets was down to their functionality that allowed users to view videos and movies, use social media, and surf the Internet.
Samsung aims at securing a global market share of 22.6 percent this year, higher by 18.3 percent than last year, while projecting to ship a total of 290 million tablets.
