TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After being delayed, the Jakarta Governor, Joko Widodo, officially proclaimed the International Bersih Manusiawi Wibawa (BMW) Park Stadium on Jalan RE Martadinata, Papanggo Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-District, North Jakarta on Wednesday. The construction process worth Rp1,2 billion will be finished in upcoming 2017, as reported by Antara News.
Jokowi explained that the BMW park stadium preparation has been done since 14 years ago, but since it hampered by land disputes, the construction just can begin this year. Almost 50 percent of the park land is lake formed by soil mixture of clay and loam, which is located in flood prone area. The total area of the park is 66,6 hectares, which is divided into 25,7 hectares of parks, 30,7 hectares of lake and 7,2 hectares of urban forest.
"It is in the land preparation phase. It's a swamp land, the construction starts after being prepared. The project is worth of Rp1.2 billion. It includes the main stadium and two exercise fields," said the former of Surakarta Mayor.
Jokowi explained that the BMW Park Stadium is Lebak Bulus Stadium replacement that is used for Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) depot. The stadium's land area is 12,5 hectare that could accommodate 50 thousand spectators.
Besides sport facilities, there will be a family recreation area since the stadium, that was initiated in Fauzi Bowo era, will be equipped by open green spaces as wide as 56 hectare. The space will be facilitated with water recreation park, jogging track, bike way, exhibition building, and a sea-viewing spot.
