TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Jakarta Metro Police are currently hunting down a suspect of a drug trafficking case believed to be affiliated with a Taiwanese drug network.

“We have one on our most wanted list (DPO) under the initials of HT. He is a known drug lord that controls the drug trafficking network,” said the head of the West Jakarta Police’s anti-narcotics unit, Adj. Sr. Comr. Erick Frendriz, today.

Erick said the suspect was a repeated offender and had spent time in jail for two robbery cases and another involving drug trafficking. The police alleged the suspect grew his drug network during his time in prison.

The HT syndicate, as the police dubbed it, smuggled meth and ecstasy from Taiwan and China through a courier identified as IYL. The police have named both men as their most wanted suspects.

On November 21, the police nabbed drug couriers HA (41), APP (30), LS(36), DW(38), and PR(34) during a crackdown at a harbor in Cilegon, Banten. The suspects were caught red-handed with evidence that includes 44 kilograms of meth and 20,000 ecstasy pills. The suspects claimed the narcotics was imported from Taiwan.
