TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the construction of Soekarno Hatta Airport`s terminal 4 is not yet needed. Budi said the capacity of the airport`s existing terminals is still enough and has not reached the maximum limit.
According to Budi, there are two other reasons why the construction of terminal 4 Soekarno Hatta Airport is not yet necessary.
"First of all, the work contract is still valid. Secondly, there is still enough capacity," Budi said here on Wednesday, June 6.
The minister added that the terminal might be built around 2020.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport had planned to build terminal 4 in the near future. Angkasa Pura II president director Muhammad Awaluddin said the development progress is still in the basic design stage, which would be completed this year.
"Next year, from basic design we will go into the detailed engineering design. At the end of 2019's fourth quarter we will prepare the tender," he had said in April.
Awaluddin also said that Soekarno Hatta Airport's Terminal 4 will be completed once runway 3 is done; to maintain balance between the terminal and the air side.
