Airnav Indonesia, Boeing Partner to Enhance Aviation Safety

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned air navigation firm AirNav Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing on Monday, June 12, 2023.
AirNav Director Polana B. Pramesti said that the collaboration will explore diverse initiatives to further enhance safety and flight navigation services in the archipelago. It will also explore more efficient aircraft movements and reduced fuel consumption.
Polana said that AirNav will focus on implementing and maintaining the highest level of safety in the country’s airspace, as well as assisting the growth of the civil aviation industry.
“Airspace capacity and air traffic management are a shared interest between Boeing and AirNav, it is also a natural space where we need to work together. We are looking forward to this collaboration with Boeing,” Polana said in Jakarta, Monday.
She added that the collaboration will focus on air traffic management strategic planning, training, and preparation of procedures that support fuel efficiency, which will be guided directly by the Boeing team.
Meanwhile, Boeing’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Product Development, Mike Sinnett, said that Indonesia is home to one of the largest aviation markets in Asia.
He said Boeing is committed to supporting Indonesia’s civil aviation industry. “[We are] excited to work with AirNav to explore lasting solutions that safely and sustainably enhance Indonesia’s air traffic management system,” said Sinnett.
