All International Airlines to Move to CGK`s Terminal 3 by 2018

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) targetted to move all operations of international airlines that are members of Sky Team group to Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK).

“The relocation process has been done gradually and by the end of 2018, all international flights will be operational in Terminal 3,” said AP II Corporate Communication Vice President Yado Yarismano to Tempo on Friday, May 11.

According to Yanto, 50 percent of some 29 international airlines operating in Terminal 2 has been moved to Terminal 3 thus far. “Terminal 3 is ready and is equipped with advanced facility and digital technology,” said Yado.

Since Terminal 3 began operation in August 2016, the relocation has been started in May 2017. On May 1, Garuda Indonesia has moved there followed by Saudi Arabian Airlines on Juli 10, Vietnam Airlines on July 12, Korean Air on July 17, Xiamen Air on July 30, China Airlines on August 8, and then China Southern on August 29.

In 2018, AirAsia moved to Terminal 3 on January 22, then Fly Scoot Tiger on March 14, Citilink Jakarta-Penang on March 25, Malaysia Airlines on April 9, Thai Airways on first of May, Oman Air on May 8, both Qantas and Jetstar Asia Airways on May 11. The Dutch-flagged airline KLM Royal is also scheduled to move on May 15.

The airport’s Senior Manager of Branch Communications and Legal, Erwin Revianto, explained the relocation of international airlines is part of AP II commitment as the airport operator to improve the service for the airlines and customers.

Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta airport (CGK) is equipped with advanced facilities from digital banner to the self-handling check-in counter. “No more x-banner is used. In the airside, we install VDGS or Visual Docking Guidance System. And for the security, we install 360-degree CCTV camera,” Erwin said.
