TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - According to the Indonesian online transport service association (PPTJDI), thousands of motorcycle taxi drivers from ride-hailing app firms Grab and GoJek are set to stage another round of protests on Monday, April 23, at the House of Representatives [DPR].

“We advise road users to temporarily avoid General Gatot Subroto Street that directly faces the House of Representatives building,” said PPTJDI chairman Igun Wicaksono today.

Igun estimated some 10,000 motorcycle taxi drivers would join the planned rallies, which would take place simultaneously at Regional Representatives Councils [DPRD] nationwide.

Earlier, Grab and GoJek drivers held a similar protest at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on March 27, demanding adjusted tariffs and legal platforms for online motorcycle taxi services.

According to Igun, the Monday protest will focus on the realization of their earlier demands, viz. increased tariffs to Rp3,000-Rp4,000 per kilometer through a subsidy system from online ride-hailing companies, and the legal platforms that the government has yet to ratify.
