TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Convicted Sarinah terrorist Dodi Suradi was presented as a witness in the Jakarta bombing trial session at the South Jakarta District Court yesterday, March 9. Dodi was sentenced to 10 years behind bars for his role in creating the bomb used in the series of attacks.

When asked about his original target of the attack, Dodi said, “my target was the house of representatives (DPR) and the people’s consultative assembly (MPR) building.”

Dodi also said that he was not made aware that the area in the vicinity of the Sarinah Dept. Store located at Jalan Thamrin, Central Jakarta, would eventually be the target for the terror attack. He testified that he was only asked to grind the gas cylinders used as a bombing device.

Furthermore, Dodi and another Sarinah terror suspect Dian planned to attack the Russian Embassy before Sarinah area was finally chosen to be the group’s target.

In the middle of his explanation, Dodi pointed his finger towards a female public prosecutor present in the trial. He said that the prosecutor was the type of people that the terrorist group originally targeted, “Yes, just like her. People like her must be killed,” said the terrorist.

Dodi Suradi did not file an appeal and instead said that the judge’s verdict is the risk he must face for being a terrorist. “It’s a risk I must take as a terrorist. I accept the verdict,” he said.
