Drug Dealer Arrested in Mangga Besar for Possesion of 0.5kg Meth

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police arrested a drug dealer on Monday in front of Husada Hospital on Jalan Mangga Besar, Central Jakarta. Deputy Director for Dangerous Substance, Jakarta Police Drug Investigation Unit, Adj. Sr. Comr. M. Arsal Sahban said the suspect, identified with the initials of TKS, 52, had long been targeted by police.
“He is our long time target,” Arsal told Tempo on Wednesday.
Arsal said the suspect was arrested after a cop disguised as buyer. Upon arrest, police found 5g of meth in the suspect’s pants.
“We made further investigation at his rental property in Krukut Sub-district, Tamansari, we seized almost 0.5kg of meth which was hidden in the ceiling of his bathroom,” he said.
According to Arsal, the meth is estimated to worth Rp750 million. TKS is charged with violating article 114 in conjuction with article 112 of Law No 35/2009 on narcotics. The suspect could face life sentence.
Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Investigation director Sr. Comr. John Turman Panjaitan said police are embarking on Operation Indigo (Operasi Nila) which targets drug lords. Police also target regions named in the blacklist of drug trafficking in the operation.
“We have launched huge operations in Kampung Bahari, North Jakarta and will conduct large operations in other locations such as apartments, night clubs and other locations where drug trafficking is most prevalent,” Jhon said.
