Homecoming Travelers by Motorcycles Estimated to Rise This Year

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Ministry predicted that the number of homecoming travellers by motorcycles this year will increase by 50 percent compared to that of last year.

This year, the number of motorcycles is expected to reach 5,638,683 units, as opposed to 3.75 millions last year.

"We ware going to provide free vehicles to transport motorcycles to reduce the number of motorcycles,” said Director General of Land Transportation Pudji Hartanto Iskandar in Jakarta on Friday.

Transportation Ministry has increased its budget by four times to reduce the number of homecoming travellers by motorcycles.

The ministry has budgeted Rp 20 billion for free transportation for homecoming travellers by motorcycles.
