TEMPO.CO, Mecca-The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, has asked the Saudi government to release the finger prints of Indonesians killed in the recent Mina tragedy.

"We have asked them to issue the finger prints and names of the Indonesian victims who had been identified," Indonesian Hajj Chief Organizer for Mecca area, Arsyad Hidayat, said on Monday, October 5.

He said that the finger print data will help access the passport numbers of the Indonesian hajj pilgrims and the arrival numbers of the Indonesians settled in Saudi Arabia.

Hidayat said when the authorities extricated the bodies of the victims from the containers, they carried out three processes, namely taking photographs of the victims, recording their finger prints and taking the samples of their DNA.

"That means that the local authorities have identified all the victims who died in the Mina incident," he said.

Hidayat said that up to 10:30 a.m Saudi Time on Monday, the number of Indonesian victims who had died was reported to be 100, with 95 of them being hajj pilgrims and five were Indonesians who had settled in Saudi Arabia.

The number of those who have not yet returned to their dormitories since the Mina incident was still 28. Five persons were reported to be still under treatment in hospital.
