TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Sapari Partodiharjo, the head of the prevention department of the Jakarta Anti-narcotics Agency, said three echelon IV officials of the Jakarta Administration had been indicated of consuming narcotics.
Sapari said the temporary results came from the testing of urine samples conducted on Monday, May 18, 2015. “We are still looking into the results,” he said at the City Hall on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.
According to him, the testing was carried out after the inauguration of echelon III and IV officials of the city administration. He said the 649 officials inaugurated that day underwent urine testing to ensure they were narcotics-free. A total of 373 samples have been tested to date.
Sapari, however, said his agency had yet to name the three as drug abusers, on the grounds that some medicines would also generate effects similar to narcotics’ upon consumption. “Perhaps they were using hyperthyroid,” he said.
He explained his personnel would question the three on the kinds of medicines they consumed, and whether they obtained the medicines from prescriptions. “We will also launch impromptu inspections,” he said.
