BNN Burns 3.5-hectare Marijuana Plantation in Bengkulu

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The National Anti-narcotics Agency (BNN) has burned a 3.5-hectare marijuana plantation in Kampung Jeruk village, Bengkulu.
"The weed plantation was situated on a hill, 900 meters above sea level," said BNN spokesman Sr. Comr. Slamet Pribadi on Friday, April 17, 2015.
Slamet said the plantation was discovered following reports from locals. "When we checked out the place, it was true that the site was used as a marijuana plantation," he said.
Slamet explained BNN personnel found some 3,500 marijuana plants with varied height of 20-200 cm concealed among coffee plants.
“The marijuana plants were ready for harvest,” he added. "We then uprooted and destroyed them."
Slamet said the BNN was still investigating the case to find out the mastermind behind the plantation’s operation. “The owner presumably fled the site when we raided the plantation,” he said.
