TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 27 foreign companies in Cakung industrial area reject the Jakarta minimum wage (UMP) of Rp2.7 million for 2015 set by Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.
Eddy Kuntadi, chairman of the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, said those 27 companies have requested suspension in paying the wage, which is currently being processed by the Jakarta Wage Council.
He said those companies must pass through several steps to have their request granted. One of the steps s showing reports of profit and loss in the past two years.
Most of the 27 companies are from Korea with various kinds of businesses. “Most of them considers the UMP burdensome. That’s why we ask for reports of profit and loss that have been audited in the past two years,” said Eddy
The Jakarta provincial government and the Wage Council have determined the Jakarta UMP for 2015 in Jakarta governor’s regulation. The rise of UMP is attributed to the effect of inflation after subsidized fuel price hike in early December 2014. The Jakarta government has requested the Central Statistics Agency to calculate the inflation after the rise of fuel price.
