Feeding the Need for Jazz in 2014 Ngayogjazz
Sabtu, 29 November 2014 08:38 WIB
TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Street musician Sujud Sutrisno a.k.a. Sujud Kendang opened the 2014 Ngayogjazz with ‘Tung Tak Tung Jazz’ in Brayut Tourism Village, Pendowoharjo, Sleman Regency on Saturday, November.
The legendary street artist known for his gimmick of wearing blangkon (Javanese native hat) played kendang (Javanese drum) and several songs such as ‘Satu Tambah Satu’ (One Plus One). The audiences were laughing when hearing the lyrics on his songs.
The event initiator Djaduk Ferianto said Sujud was chosen to open the concert to appreciate contribution of street musicians who have never tired of playing music instruments.
“His old body does not prevent him [to play],” said Djaduk.
Along with Sujud, international music group Grove’nroll also enliven the stage by singing five songs. The group is well known for its percussion instruments.
This year’s Ngayogjazz was held under the theme of ‘Tung Tak Tung Jazz’ which refers to sounds of happiness.
