TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) launched Jayabaya train, an economy class train serving Jakarta–Malang route.

PT KAI Director Ignatius Jonan said that Jayabaya train is the first train of 160 new trains that the company will launch.

It is planned that during the period of 2014-2020, PT KAI will gradually launch medium and long distance trains.

"Jayabaya economy class is the ‘reincarnation’ train of the Jayabaya business class that was in operation between 1989-2006," Jonan said at Pasar Senen Station.

The whole appearance of the medium and long distance train was made similar to the design of Jayabaya train.

The carriages were painted with white color gray, with accents of blue and orange lines along the carriage. However, the facilities were better than the previous train. Jonan also said the facilities provided will resemble the ones provided by executive trains.

Jayabaya train has air-conditioning, toilets, and a power plug at every seat.
