TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama is planning to learn about street vendor management and creative industry development in South Korea. "I want to be able to picture how they develop creative industry," said Ahok on Monday, September 15, 2014.

The 17th Asian Games will be held from September 18 to October 4 in Incheon, South Korea, while Ahok's visit is only scheduled until September 21. Jakarta on the other hand, will host the Asian Games four years later.

Ahok said that his visit to Incheon will be to sign a letter that signifies the handover of the 18th Asian Games to Jakarta. He will depart for South Korea in September 18 and will stay there for three days.

Ahok said that he had contacted the Indonesian Ambassador for South Korea John Aristianto Prasetio. Ahok said that John would take him to the Gangnam District, the most developed area in Seoul.

Ahok's visit is also related to the Jakarta regional government's plan to change street vendor management system and reduce involvement of street thugs that often collect illegal levies from street vendors.
