TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Deputy Mayor of Bogor Dedie A Rachim conducted a sudden inspection of the city square which was complained about by many because of illegal parking and street vendors.
He also monitored pedestrians around the square, particularly the road leading to the Bogor station, and was surprised to see that many spots were damaged and not maintained even though it was recently inaugurated by the West Java Governor.
“Regarding the street vendors, we have asked them for a long time to relocate to shophouses in block F. But they are stubborn,” said Dedie in a press statement, Thursday, January 5, 2023.
According to him, street vendors kept ignoring the order of relocation and in the end, they opened businesses on the side of the road around the square. “Traders who rent stalls in the market also complained about this because their turnover drops. We will clear it up and arrange it the best we can,” Dedie remarked.
As for issues on illegal parking, Dedie said it was another problem due to the lack of parking area. The city administration would cooperate with the state-owned railway operator PT KAI to set up parking areas or the park and ride.
“There are plots of land near the Police school belonging to KAI. We’ll try to coordinate it so that they can be used for parking areas,” he said.
The Bogor city government also planned to build a crossing bridge or Skybridge connecting the two stations, Bogor Station and Paledang Station, and the main square. “So it will be neat and orderly,” Dedie concluded.
