TEMPO.CO, Brebes - The number of homecomers that will enter Central Java in this year's Eid al-Fitr is estimated to be at 7.9 million people, six percent higher compared to last year.

"Homecomers using motorcycles are still dominant," said Johari, chief of transportation division at the Brebes Regency Transportation, Communication and Informatics on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.

The increasing number of homecomers going to Central Java is spread evenly in six transportation means. Data from the Central Java Transportation, Communication and Informatics Office showed that homecomers who will use buses are estimated at 3.4 million (increased by 7.5 percent), while homecomers using private cars and motorcycles is estimated to be at 2.1 people (increased by 5.61 percent) and two million people (increased by 4.3 percent), respectively.

Meanwhile, the number of homecomers who took the train and ship is predicted to increase by three and five percent to 92,219 people and 28,836 people, respectively. The highest increase is predicted to occur in the number of homecomers using airplanes, which is estimated to be at 88,335 people.

Johari said that the increase in the number of homecomers will resulted in traffic jams and incidents.
