TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono already has the name of the person who will replace Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo. Hatta, the Finance Minister’s executive officer, has denied the report that the National Mandate Party (PAN) Deputy Chairman Drajad Wibowo was the person appointed by the president as new Finance Minister.

“That’s not true. Drajad is currently in Europe and the president will appoint the new minister this week,” said Hatta Rajasa, met at the presidential office on Monday, May 13.

Hatta added that the announcement and appointment of new Finance Minister will be conducted by the president soon. The PAN chairman was also reluctant to provide information about the name of the new minister because he does not want to violate the president’s authority. “[The new minister] is a professional and definitely not a party member.”
