Minister: 2015 will See Growth Support from Manufacturing Sector

25 June 2014 15:08 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister M. Chatib Basri said the national economic growth could reach 5.5 to 6.0 percent in 2015. The manufacturing sector, said Chatib, will become the main contributor to the target achievement.

"Next year, there will be better room form growth," he said in a meeting with the House of Representatives' (DPR) Budget Committee, yesterday.

According to the Finance Ministry's calculation, the manufacturing sector will grow by 5.5 to 6.0 percent, and account for 1.4 to 1.53 percent to the economic growth.

Next year, the government expects inflation to be in the range of 4.0 percent, plus-minus one percent. According to Chatib, policies in the energy sector will still become the main factor influencing the inflation. In addition, the rupiah correction and volatile food prices due to weather changes in the second half of 2014 will push up inflation next year.
